Argonaut Garage

I recently brought my car to Argonaut Garage on San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley and was thoroughly impressed from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, the staff were warm, professional, and knowledgeable — clearly a team that takes pride in excellent service. Trustworthy & Transparent: Throughout the process, they explained what needed work and why, often using photos or videos so I could see issues myself before giving approval. I never felt pressured — just informed and respected. Efficient & Competent: Work was done quickly and correctly the first time. I appreciated their consistent communication—via text, call, or email—about progress, updates, and a clear breakdown of c…

I just had the most fantastic experience at Argonaut Garage and I'm genuinely thrilled to have found my new local car technicians! I went in for a routine oil change, and what I received was so much more. They provided a full, incredibly transparent diagnostic report, clearly color-coded with green (good), yellow (needs attention), and red (urgent to repair). This level of detail and honesty is exactly what I look for in car service. When I asked about the most urgent items, we had a clear, no-pressure conversation, and together we prioritized the disc brakes and another item. I'm actually excited to work with them to systematically get through the entire list of recommendations.…

From the first phone call to make an appointment to the time I got my keys back, every communication was professional, precise, transparent, and friendly. I sincerely appreciate the folks who work at Argonaut. They have built trust and respect in the community (so much so that we take three family cars there!) and they never take that for granted. They are truly in the business of cars AND people.

It is rare to find such a well-run, clean, beautiful and GENEROUS garage/mechanic. I’d been searching for a simple hutch strut replacement and the prices were dumb high at the dealer, my former garage etc. I was driving down San Pablo Ave and noticed how “attractive “ Argonaut was. Great logo, great signage, clean, bright. I pulled over on a whim and went in. I was immediately impressed with the design sense and cleanliness of the shop. Clearly they cared and went extra to make a warm, pretty and comfortable experience for the guest. Hospitality!!!! I’m so wary of mechanics and being overcharged— but this place really shines as a superior option to a lot of mediocre shops. They offered me th…

Extremely disappointing experience. Came in for an inspection and was given an inflated repair estimate. Parts like control arms were quoted at nearly 3x the price Tesla charges directly. Argonaut also recommended unnecessary repairs, including replacing struts on a 4 y/o vehicle with no signs of wear, based solely on a noise that traced back to the control arms. To make matters worse, my car was damaged while in their care. The interior cloth door pillar was stained with brake dust or dirt, which is now permanently marked. When I asked if they’d address it (after initially saying they’d just make a note of it), they came out with a rag and vinyl cleaner, which would’ve likely made the stai…
